Privacy Policy

1. Data Storage and Local-First Architecture

3AM Notes strictly adheres to a local-first storage model. All user-generated content, including but not limited to text entries, audio recordings, and attached images, is stored securely and exclusively on your local device using a SQLite database.

We do not transmit, synchronize, or store your personal journal data on our external servers. Your data leaves your device only when you explicitly initiate an action to export, share, or backup the information utilizing the application's built-in features.

2. Device Permissions and Data Access

To provide specific functionalities, 3AM Notes requests access to the following device permissions:

  • Microphone Access: Required for the Pro Voice Notes feature. Audio recording and processing occur entirely on your local device.
  • Camera and Photo Library Access: Required to attach images to note entries or set custom profile avatars.
  • Biometric Data (e.g., FaceID, TouchID): Required for the optional "Journal Lock" feature. The application utilizes your device's native biometric authentication mechanisms. We do not collect, process, or store your biometric data.

3. Product Analytics

We utilize PostHog for basic product analytics to understand application usage patterns and improve the user experience (e.g., tracking screen views and feature engagement). We strictly prohibit the collection, tracking, or analysis of any user-generated journal content. All analytics events are anonymized and aggregated, and under no circumstances is sensitive note data included in analytics payloads.

4. Children's Privacy

3AM Notes is not directed toward children. You must be at least 13 years of age (or older, depending on your jurisdiction and the requirements of the respective app store) to use the application. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 13.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify or update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the 3AM Notes application following such modifications constitutes your acknowledgement and acceptance of the revised policy.
