Data Deletion Instructions

3AM Notes

How to Delete Your Data

3AM Notes is designed with a strict local-first architecture. This means we do not store, process, or maintain any of your journal entries, audio recordings, images, or personal information on our external servers. Your data lives entirely on your device.

Because we do not have your data, you do not need to submit a request to us to delete it. You have full control, and can delete your data at any time by following these steps:

  • Delete Data Within the App: Any entry, audio file, or image deleted within the 3AM Notes app is permanently removed from your device's local database immediately.
  • Uninstall the Application: To completely delete all data associated with 3AM Notes, simply uninstall the application from your device. This will permanently delete the application's local database and all contents within it.
  • Clear App Data (Android only): Alternatively, you can go to your device's Settings > Apps > 3AM Notes > Storage & cache, and select "Clear storage" to wipe all app data without uninstalling.

Data Retention and Types of Data Deleted

  • User Content: All text entries, audio recordings, and images will be permanently deleted from your local device upon uninstallation or manual deletion as described above.
  • Product Analytics: We use PostHog for basic, anonymized analytics (e.g., feature usage). This data contains no personally identifiable information and cannot be linked back to you or your journal entries.
  • Retention Period: Because data is stored locally, it is retained on your device indefinitely until you choose to delete it or uninstall the app. Once you delete it from your device, it is gone instantly and irreversibly.
